About

Welcome! Hello! 你好!

I’m Carmen, the author of this blog. I love and adore Jesus. Next, I love and admire my husband, Dave, and each one of our children: Ian, Grace, Ben, John, Estee and Mary. And finally, I love and give thanks for you, my readers~ friends and family scattered throughout the world.

My online musings originally began as a journal to share bits and pieces of life in Shanghai, China, with family and friends.  (These older ramblings can be found by clicking on the “Chronicles of China” page.)

I was always amazed that my family and friends read these weekly ramblings. Some seemed to vicariously share my adventures. I enjoyed the company and still remain thankful for the love and encouragement I received as I stumbled and fumbled my way around a foreign culture.  As we scattered across the world, many prayed for our family.  For that, I offer my deepest gratitude.

I repatriated (moved back to my home country) two years ago.  Returning as a third culture person, I again found myself stumbling and fumbling. Certainly, this process deserved a blog of it’s own.  However, my blogging stopped.  Completely.

Since our return, I don’t know how many times I’ve heard, “Carmen, I miss my Sunday morning coffee with you and your blog.” And I have to say that I miss my Sunday morning tea with you!  I miss connecting. I miss writing. And yes, believe it or not, I miss China. God has etched China and her people on my heart.

I’m not so sure what God has in store for the future.  Who is?  One thing that I do know is that no matter where I am in the world, everyday walking with God is an adventure.  With Him, there are always things to write and discuss.

Currently, I am leading, teaching and serving women at a non-denominational church in Green, Ohio, The Chapel. I’m also grateful to be pursuing a masters in theological studies through Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS). The subject matter, God, is awesome. The professors are amazing. My fellow students are inspiring. I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

Yet, if you previously followed my blog, you know that my faith in Jesus is not really “academic.”  Like many of you, I strive to walk with Christ throughout the day.  I want to better know and love Him and better love His people. This is best done in community.

Therefore, my blogging heart is to build community that encourages women to know and love Jesus. God has blessed me with opportunities to serve women around the world.  Because of this, I can testify that women everywhere long for love and long to be cherished. I desire women to know: God loves. He cherishes. His Word says that He even rejoices over us:

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)

I envision an intimate online community of biblical mentor-ship: older women (that includes me!) and younger women loving and living out Christ together. My hope is to inspire us to pray together, too.

Please consider joining.  Your presence makes a difference.

With love, gratitude & joy,

Carmen
